The Union arbejder for:

The Union works:

  • for all BIPOCs who work with film, visual arts, performing arts, dance, design, music, curation, literature and other arts and cultural work based in Denmark.

  • for fair and equal working conditions for BIPOCs in the Danish artistic and cultural industries.

  • to connect and create a dialogue amongst our members about their rights as artists and cultural workers in Denmark.

  • to draw attention to unequal representation and visibility of BIPOCs in the Danish artistic and cultural industries as well as within institutions and workplaces.

  • to build a platform in which the art and cultural work of BIPOCs can be recognized, honored and shared on our own terms.

The Union wants to see a change in the art and culture scene and demands:

  • that the institutions in Denmark publicly show zero tolerance for racism, discrimination and reproduction of oppression of racialized artists in Danish art and culture industries.

  • that institutions / galleries / museums do more than what is ‘visible’ when it comes to racism and anti-racism. Representing and highlighting racialized artists is not enough in itself. We demand structural change aimed at redistributing influence, power and resources as well as initiating anti-racist processes from within the system.

  • that institutions work actively to break down white fragility, white norms and white dominance, which stand in the way of us exposed to racism being able to exist in the Danish art and culture industries, and which stand in the way of us being able to talk together about racism.

  • that more space and more opportunities are created for racialized people in the art and culture industries.
